Dr. Park currently serves as Professor of Family Medicine, Vice President and Dean of the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine – Southern Utah campus. Since 2015, his major role was in establishing and overseeing Rocky Vista University’s additional location campus in Ivins, Utah. He is committed to demonstrating his leadership and vision for enriching the future of osteopathic medicine through education.
“Throughout my undergraduate and graduate experience, I have never seen a professor--let alone a dean--invest in the personal development of a student like Dr. Park. His teaching method of public speaking is indicative of his investment in the professional development of his students. He cares about each of us individually and takes time to praise, instruct and build us individually,” says Samuel Zarbock, OMS IV, a current student of Dr. Park’s.
Dr. Park graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998 before completing a Family Medicine residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York. So valued was he that, his residency program recruited him to stay on as faculty and also oversee osteopathic education. Dr. Park created the hospital’s first OMT clinic and held bi-weekly OMT workshops with residents and students. He is board certified by both the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine.
In addition to his demanding responsibilities at RVU, Dr. Park finds time to hold leadership roles in many state and national groups. He serves on the Utah Physician Workforce Committee and on the Board of Trustees for the Utah Osteopathic Medical Association. He serves on the Board of Governors for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the Board of Deans for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the Bureau of Osteopathic Education for the AOA, and as a Site Evaluator for the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.
Prior leadership positions in osteopathic academia include Regional Academic Officer for OPTI – West Medical Education Consortium, founding Program Director for Valley Hospital Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency, Chair of Primary Care and Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education for Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine.
