The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) a national-serving nonprofit foundation committed to advancing Osteopathic medical education, proudly announces a landmark achievement in its mission to support aspiring Osteopathic medical students.

The Sterling Welch, DO Scholars Grants, established through an estate gift more than 40 years ago, provided an unprecedented $104,000 to 52 students from 52 Colleges and Schools of Osteopathic Medicine in 2023. This record-breaking amount not only represents the highest sum ever awarded but also serves as compelling proof of how an endowed gift can perpetually live on, grow, and profoundly impact the Osteopathic profession.

This boost in financial support underscores the growing importance of the scholarship and its positive impact on the lives and educational journeys of OMS students.

"It is an honor to oversee the assets entrusted to us by Dr. Welch,” noted Rita Forden, AOF CEO. “His legacy lives on through the opportunities these grants provide to Osteopathic Medical Students facing substantial financial challenges. The record number of nominations and the increased funding reflect our commitment to supporting aspiring healthcare professionals and fostering excellence in Osteopathic medicine."
