Sterling K. Welch, DO made a remarkable bequest donation of $114,000 to the AOF in 1964. His intention was to provide student loans during a time when loans were hard to acquire. Nearly 40 years later, the Welch family heirs graciously agreed to unrestrict earnings so that the AOF could broaden its scholarship program and reach even more students across the country.
Since 2001, the Sterling K. Welch, DO, Scholarship has afforded the opportunity for one OMS I, OMS II or OMS III student per College/School of Osteopathic Medicine (COM/SOM) branch campus and location the eligibility to receive a $2,000 financial scholarship. Recipients are selected based on their outstanding academic achievements, active participation in extracurricular activities, strong commitment to Osteopathic medicine, and significant financial need.
