The AOF is pleased to announce the 2023 recipients of the Thomas A. Quinn, DO, Osteopathic Scholarships are Aishani Tingare, OMS II of Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) and Alberto Velasco, OMS III of Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM).
Made possible through generous funding from Sissy Quinn & Thomas A. Quinn, DO, this scholarship recognizes students who exemplify what it means to be an Osteopathic physician through a commitment to Osteopathic principles and practices.
“For me, an exemplification of Osteopathic principles is synonymous with serving one’s community,” says Student Doctor Tingare. “…serving my CUSOM community as an OMM and Academic Center of Excellence Teaching Assistant has been rewarding in unexpected ways. As someone who has received OMT as an injured athlete, the importance of focusing on the musculoskeletal aspect of the body is incomparable to me. It allows for the nurturing of all aspects of human condition, a skill I hope to embody as a future Osteopathic physician.”
Student Doctor Velasco shared a similar sentiment, “…the Thomas A. Quinn, DO, Osteopathic Scholarship, represents the embodiment of my commitment to Osteopathic principles,” Velasco says. “Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently sought to infuse these principles into every facet of my experience. My engagement in initiatives like the JEDI program and advocacy for GME parity underscores my genuine dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and fairness within the Osteopathic community. These efforts aren't just checkboxes on a list; they reflect my core beliefs and values.”
