The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) is proud to welcome Athena Masi, OMS II, as the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) Foundation representative to the Board of Directors for a two-year term that begins January 1, 2023.
The SOMA Foundation selects a SOMA member to represent the interests of Osteopathic medical students for two-year terms on the AOF Board.
“I am delighted to welcome Student Doctor Masi to the AOF Board of Directors,” said Board President, Dawn Tartaglione, DO. “We greatly value the perspective and commitment provided by Osteopathic medical students serving on our board and I personally look forward to working with Athena to further develop the support and opportunities we provide back to them.”
Student Doctor Masi is in her second year of medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), Middletown, NY. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Monmouth University, followed by a Post-Baccalaureate Program at Temple University College of Science and Technology in Advanced Core Health Sciences.
She serves as president of TouroCOM Middletown’s SOMA chapter facilitating events such as a research symposium, a National Osteopathic Medicine week celebration, and Pre-SOMA outreach activities. She is also a voting delegate to the Student Osteopathic Medical Association House of Delegates.
“Athena has a hands-on approach and strong history of coordinating inclusive campus events. She brings a real-world student perspective, coupled with tested leadership experience, to the Board as we continue to grow and enrich AOF student opportunities,” says AOF CEO Rita Forden.
