Herchran Singh's Dedication

An active volunteer in her community, she organizes and participates in projects including giving COVID-19 vaccines, providing health care to underserved populations, and conducting outreach within the local community.

A first-generation immigrant woman of color, Student Doctor Singh uses personal loss as her motivation. “Supporting patients in an empathetic and compassionate manner is how I honor my father and will continue to carry the values he taught me into the world.

My loss has helped heighten my sensitivity to the needs of others, fostered my ability to empathize with grieving patients, and challenged me to see light in the darkest moments.”

Doctor Singh's Future Endeavors

Student Doctor Singh plans to pursue a career in gynecologic oncology. Her educator and mentor, William E. Winter III, MD, says, “Her motivation and personal commitment to our patients are unparalleled in my years of teaching…She exhibits every quality required of a successful physician and surgeon: passion, extraordinary work ethic, intelligence, leadership, and skill.”

Recognizing Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, and Dedication, the AOF Karen J. Nichols, DO, LEAD Scholar Award highlights top performing students nearing the end of medical school who are poised to become leaders within the Osteopathic profession.

AOF Board President Barbara Ross-Lee, DO, says “Student Doctor Singh is a beacon of light for her fellow students and an example of the overall excellence in future classes of Osteopathic physicians. She is destined to be a leader within the profession, and a world-class physician for her patients.”
