The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) is honored to welcome J. Michael Finley, DO, to its Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2019.
Dr. Finley is currently the Senior Vice President for Assessment at the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, he works to ensure excellence in the assessment of osteopathic physicians seeking licensure through the NBOME’s Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States, a three-level, national standardized licensure examination designed for licensure for the practice of osteopathic medicine.
A committed educator, Dr. Finley has previously served as the associate dean of graduate and clinical medical education at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (WesternU/COMP) in Pomona, California, as well as chief academic officer for OPTI – West Educational Consortium. He was also named AOF’s W. Douglas Ward, PhD, Educator of the Year in 2015.
Dr. Finley earned his DO degree from Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He has completed the AOA/Ohio University--Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Health Policy Fellowship in 2015 and is currently enrolled in the Association of American Medical Colleges’ GME Leadership Development Certificate Program.
