The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) is pleased to announce the election of Robert W. Hostoffer Jr., DO, MBA, MS Med Ed, to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Hostoffer is AOA board certified in both allergy and immunology and pediatrics. He brings more than four decades of distinguished service to Osteopathic Medicine as a clinician, educator, researcher, and organizational leader. His career reflects a deep commitment to advancing patient care, strengthening medical education, and advancing the Osteopathic Profession.

In recognition of his sustained contributions and leadership, Dr. Hostoffer received AOF’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, at which time he expressed a desire to deepen his engagement with the Foundation and its mission.

Dr. Hostoffer currently practices at Allergy/Immunology Associates in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He serves as a full clinical professor at both the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Case Western Reserve University, where he has helped educate and mentor generations of physicians while integrating Osteopathic Principles into clinical training and patient care.

Widely published and nationally recognized, Dr. Hostoffer has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters and abstracts, and has delivered hundreds of invited presentations. His scholarly work spans immunodeficiency disorders, chronic disease management, medical education, and the clinical application of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)—all with a focus on improving outcomes and advancing whole-person care.

Beyond academia, Dr. Hostoffer has held numerous leadership roles within organized Osteopathic Medicine, including serving as President of the Ohio Osteopathic Association.

As Chair of the Bureau of Osteopathic Research and Public Health, he played a key role in guiding the profession through periods of growth, innovation, and change.

Dr. Hostoffer earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He completed his pediatric residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in pediatric immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also holds a Master’s in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University. He holds certificates from Harvard University and the University of Chicago.
