Robert Cain, DO, FACOI, FAODME
Dr. Robert Cain, joined the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) as President and CEO in July 2019. Before assuming this position, he served as the Associate Dean for Clinical Education at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM), overseeing business development and relationship management for clinical experiences associated with undergraduate and graduate medical education (GME).
He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from OU-HCOM.
Thomas Cavalieri, DO, MACOI, FACP, AGS
Dr. Cavalieri is the inaugural senior vice provost of the Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences of Rowan University and chief academic officer of Virtua Health. He had served as Dean of Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine since 2006.
He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
John R. Gimpel, DO, MEd, FACOFP, FAAFP
Dr. Gimpel has served as President and CEO of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) since 2009. Prior to his role at the NBOME, Dr. Gimpel served as the dean and vice president for health services at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and as director of predoctoral medical education at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from PCOM.
Brookshield (Brook) Laurent, DO
Dr. Laurent has served as chair of the Department of Clinical Medicine at NYITCOM’s site at Arkansas State University since 2016. There, she leads faculty of multiple clinical specialties and spurs professional and leadership development. She also serves as the executive director for the Delta Population Health Institute, leveraging resources in education, research, policy, and community engagement to bring about policy, system, and environmental change.
She earned her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (New Jersey).
William McDade, MD PhD
Dr. McDade is the chief diversity and inclusion officer at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Before joining the ACGME in 2019, he was executive vice president and chief academic officer of Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. Before his appointment at Ochsner, Dr. McDade was a professor of anesthesia and critical care at the University of Chicago, where he completed terms as deputy provost for research and minority issues and as associate dean for multicultural affairs at the Pritzker School of Medicine.
He received his PhD in biophysics and theoretical biology from the University of Chicago, and his medical degree from Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine Medical Scientist Training Program.
Dixie Tooke-Rawlins, DO, FACOFP
Dr. Tooke-Rawlins serves as the President and Provost over the VCOM Campuses and is the Founding Dean of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before her tenure at VCOM, which began in 2000, Dr. Tooke-Rawlins was Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) and in 1999 became KCOM’s Interim Dean.
She received her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM).

Paul Umbach, MA
Paul Umbach founded Tripp Umbach in 1990 and serves as President. As the owner of Tripp Umbach, Paul oversees a diverse team that completes customized consulting engagements for the nation's most respected universities, health systems, corporations, and economic development organizations. Paul has been actively involved in the planning and development of more than 30 of the nation’s new medical schools and the expansion of health science and graduate medical education programs at universities and health systems throughout North America.
Paul is a graduate of Harvard University, where he completed the Advanced Management Development Program with Alumni Status. He also holds a Master of Arts from the University of Akron in Geography and Regional Planning and a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in Geography and English Literature.
