The AOF is now accepting applications for many of our 2018 awards and scholarships! DOs, residents, students, educators, researchers and more are encouraged to apply. Do you qualify? Read the summaries below to learn more about each award/scholarship and its criteria. 

 

  • AOF/AAOA Donna Jones Moritsugu Memorial Award. This award recognizes the partners who provide immeasurable support to fourth-year graduating osteopathic medical students. In partnership with the Advocates for the AOA, the AOF presents this award to one individual from each college of osteopathic medicine. Read More.

  • AOF/AOA Presidential Memorial Leadership Award. Established to honor AOA Past Presidents, this award recognizes an osteopathic medical student who is committed to the principles of osteopathic medicine, a leader among their peers, and instrumental in motivating people to improve themselves and their communities.   • AOF Karen J. Nichols, DO, LEAD Scholar Award. This award is presented to an osteopathic medical student whose Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, and Dedication are proven in the classroom and community. It recognizes students whose leadership skills will serve them and their communities now and in the future.Eligible students must have completed their second year of osteopathic medical school and still be enrolled in Fall 2018.   • AOF William G. Anderson, DO, Minority Scholarship. Established to honor William G. Anderson, DO, and his life-long commitment to civil rights and osteopathic medicine, this scholarship recognizes an outstanding minority osteopathic medical student who is committed to osteopathic principals and practice, has excelled academically, and has proven to be a leader in addressing the educational, societal, and health needs of minorities.Eligible students must have completed their first year of osteopathic medical school and still be enrolled in Fall 2018.   • AOF Burnett Osteopathic Student Researcher Award. Established to support osteopathic research, this award recognizes an osteopathic medical student who has developed a concept paper or performed osteopathic-oriented research while enrolled in an COCA-accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine.   • AOF W. Douglas Ward, PhD Educator of the Year Award. This designation is awarded to an individual who emulates the highest standards of excellence in teaching, is passionate about osteopathic medicine, and has made a significant impact on the academic advancement of osteopathic students. Recipients must be currently involved in osteopathic education, but do not need to be a DO. Read More.

  • AOF Physician of the Year. The award recognizes an osteopathic physician who achieves greatness through integrity, commitment to service and community involvement. He or she truly represents the best of what osteopathic medicine is all about. Read More.

  • AOF Caring for Communities Award. This award honors extraordinary humanitarian efforts in overlooked communities in the U.S. Applicants must be a qualified 501(c)(3) center that has a DO directly involved in the program that exemplifies the humanitarian values of compassion, dedication and dignified care to communities most in need of care.   • AOF Prairie State Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to an osteopathic medical student who graduate from an Illinois high school to help defray the costs of medical education. Eligible students must be in their second, third or fourth year of osteopathic medical school and still enrolled in Fall 2018. Read more
