2020 AOF/AOA Presidential Memorial Leadership Award Presented at Virtual Honors Gala

October 20, 2020

Currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Student Doctor Reynolds earned a Master’s degree in medical science from UNTHSC in 2017.

Having a younger sister diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder ignited Student Doctor Reynolds’ passion for research in developmental neuroscience. His experience includes first-place awards for both patient safety research and case reports at the 2019 UNTHSC Research Appreciation Day, and he assisted on multiple neuroscience research projects and published articles.

“When applying to medical school, I wanted a training philosophy that considers all facets, making osteopathic medicine the easiest choice of my life…The most important thing [DOs] bring to the table is a transformational leadership style that empowers each member of the health care team to apply their unique strengths, optimizing patient care,” he says.

As Class President, Student Doctor Reynolds spearheaded projects to integrate patient safety certification into TCOM’s core curriculum, founded a 400+ member medical mentorship program, and helped raise $11,000 in funding to support students. He has served as a student representative at the AOA House of Delegates and was named TCOM’s Student Doctor of the Year in 2019.

As a future DO, Student Doctor Reynolds says he is “committed to cultivating passion, optimizing all members of the health care team, and driving positive change for our patients.” Congratulations to the 2020 winner of the AOA/AOF Presidential Memorial Leadership Award Connor D. Reynolds, MS, OMS IV.
