The 2019 recipient of the AOF Paul S. McCord, DO, Memorial Scholarship is Sydney Sherman, OMS III.
This memorial scholarship was established by family and friends of the late Paul S. McCord, DO, to honor his deep commitment to, and appreciation for, the osteopathic profession. The McCord Scholarship is awarded annually to one third-year osteopathic medical student at Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/CCOM) who is committed to providing medical services in underserved or disadvantaged areas.
Student Doctor Sherman has an impressive record of student leadership, publication and community outreach. In 2018, she completed a mission trip to Haiti, where she provided care to more than 1,200 patients. Of this experience, she says “I have a large place in my heart for the underserved, and I feel privileged to be able to provide care as a future physician…I have realized the effect one act of service can make, and I have witnessed the deep appreciation of these services both locally and abroad.”
