The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) and the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) are proud to recognize Nicolette O. Rosendahl, DO, as the 2018 AOF/ACOI Outstanding Resident of the Year in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Rosendahl earned her DO degree from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific–Northwest in 2016. She is currently a third-year resident at Mercy Medical Center’s internal medicine residency program in Des Moines, Iowa. She intends to pursue a fellowship in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM) after completion of her residency.
She credits a patient with guiding her toward her chosen specialty and shared, “the humanistic component of medicine is so important. Behind every challenging and stressful diagnosis is a patient, a human-being. One patient in particular taught me how to connect and communicate effectively, solidifying my path to pursue internal medicine.”
Her Residency Program Director, Leatrice Olson, DO, describes Dr. Rosendahl as “a compassionate provider of patient care and a leader in our program. Nicollette is committed to teaching others through education and listening; providing direction and assistance when needed
In addition, Dr. Rosendahl is an item writer for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and has conducted and published research. She is also a notable speaker, having given multiple national presentations, and remains very active in her community – a trait she inherited from her parents. “My upbringing developed my strong sense of servant leadership within my core value set, a trait I bring to every patient.”
