With diabetes increasing at an alarming rate, it’s physicians like Marc A. Vengrove, DO, who are making a difference for diabetic patients. Under Dr. Vengroves direction, the Center for Diabetes in Pregnancy Program at Lehigh Valley Health Network uses a multidisciplinary approach and innovative technologies to help women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes that are pregnant or contemplating pregnancy manage diabetes, fight the complications associated with this disease and help them enjoy a healthy lifestyle. This Center is poised to be the main referral point for all women with diabetes mellitus in the Northeast region of Pennsylvania.
The Center for Diabetes in Pregnancy Program is a collaborative effort between the departments of Endocrinology and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network, which has been cited as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for diabetes and endocrinology by U.S. News & World Report.
Using an experienced team of diabetic specialists, an innovative system to improve blood glucose recordings, and coordination of care at one site, makes it much easier for patients to comply with multiple appointments and maintain glycemic control. Blood glucose levels are recorded using Telecare, a blood glucose meter which transmits glucose readings in real time to a secure, FDA approved, cloud website. Real time monitoring translates into improved patient compliance, decreased medical errors and improved clinical outcomes.
