The Welch Scholars Grant provides monetary support to help defray costs during a student’s osteopathic medical education. Recipients are chosen because of their outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, strong commitment toward osteopathic medicine and financial need. One student from each college/school of osteopathic medicine and branch campus is eligible to receive a $1,500 grant.
This grant is open to osteopathic medical students who have successfully completed their first-year of studies prior to the fall of 2017, and will still be enrolled as an osteopathic medical student during the fall of 2017. All applicants must be in good academic standing at a COCA accredited COM.
The Director of Financial Aid at each COM shall submit the name of the candidate who best meets the above eligibility criteria and has a desire to continue in osteopathic medicine. Each COM may only submit one nomination.
